GNATHIA: ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES

At the top of the acropolis remain the vestiges of a temple from the hellenistic period. The "muraglione" , a remaining portion of the city walls, can still be seen. The archaeological museum of Egnazia is located outside the ancient city, near the messapian necropolis. Excavations of the zone of the forum, a large square surrounded by colonnades, are still in process (see also the page "Apulia: archaeological sites" : National Egnazia Archaeological Museum and archaeological area - 72015 Fasano).
